TOUCHING DOWN // Metalheadz Tribute Mix

If you don't know, Metalheadz is a label that started up in the early 90s as the sound of jungle was crystalizing into what we recognize it as today. They were hugely influential to the early development of jungle and the new and closely related genre Drum and Bass. Goldie and the other members of Metalheadz had a vision of marrying the frantic energy and the massive dub bass and space of UK hardcore and Jungle with the lush, deep and stripped down sound of American deep house and techno, especially that of Detroit. All while exploiting modern technology to its limits to achieve the clearest, loudest, most detailed and precise sound possible. This fusion resulted in what I think is some of the most interesting and exciting music that there is, and they've kept the pedal to the metal ever since, still releasing the some of the highest quality examples of the genre they helped to create 30 years on. Nothing but respect for a label dedicated to standing on the shoulders of all past musical giants and still forever finding the future sound. This mix is a 1 hour in-key romp of (almost) all metalheadz tunes, one of which dropped this summer and others over 3 decades ago. Heavy on the rufige just getting looser and more jungle as it goes building this massive sonic space. Also for once, a track list:
