THREADRIPPER
This is a mix about the betrayal of technology. The internet used to represent infinite possbilities to me. It was a way to explore endless worlds and learn endless things and find people to share it all with along the way. But at some point things became distorted. Online traffic converged into a few main hubs, which were then all converted into highly profitable data-collection factories, who are endlessly incentivized to encourage us to share more and more information about ourselves to increase their profits. These sites are flooded with corporate psy-ops designed to influence our spending habits using the very same information they tricked us into sharing. The massive amount of money generated by all of this is then used to produce weapons, surveillence technology, lobby the government, and all sorts of other cartoonishly evil things. I wonder what started this? The rise of LLMs feels something like a final nail in the coffin. Now relying on a singular piece of corporate-controled tech that keeps you completely locked in while also maintaining the illusion of user control. To me it feels a bit personal, because I've always loved my computer and fantisized about AI tech integration while watching Star Trek. Now some of that stuff is sort of here and turns out it sucks. So this mix has themes of technology and warfare, and also more somber and dark tones contrasting with moments of great beauty.

SUN SHIP
A mix of jazzy, acoustic-heavy techstep/drumfunk sounds. Rhodes, strings, saxophones, bass guitar, rapping, singing and more. A very pretty and bright interpretation of drum and bass sound but without quite slipping into the powdery smoothness of liquid. This sort of sound to me really does justice to Jazz music as a genre and doesn't just use it as a cheap decoration. Lots of nice vocals in this one as well. And just because it's jazzy and beautiful doesn't mean we're being shy with the bass, the tunes here will properly drive a soundsystem.
POOL OF SOUND
Imagine a pool of sound, totally motionless. A breeze drifts in and disturbs the surface. Patterns form and grow in intensity and complexity, feeding back and reinforcing upon themselves. Eventually an impossibly complex web of refracting ripples and eddies has formed, existing exactly as it does only at this moment. Gradually the momentum fades. The patterns become softer and simpler again until the sound returns to stillness, silence, and awaits another force of change to give it form. This is something like marrying my love of ambient music since childhood with my more recent affection for dance music. This mix is very much a home listening vibe, exploring experimental ideas through the sonic language of dub, jungle, and dnb.
