ANTICITIZEN ONE // Tech/Deep House Mix

A mix of deep house and tech house that I've found an affection for after being immersed in drum & bass and other breaks and samples oriented genres for months. Most of these tracks use drum machines and synthesizers with simple patterns, copying the dark stripped-down style of the earliest house and disco music with all the modern music tech that was becoming available to us. Not all tracks are from this exact era, some predate or postdate it and some are brand new, but all embody this design ethos. The result is this deep, expressive, organic music rooted as much in the soul of house and disco as it is in the formalism and precision of techno. Very fun to do long blends with. I find these tracks, which often run for 8-12 minutes are relatively sparse in arrangement, to be very refreshing in the era of clippable music and short-form entertainment. I'm going to make a series of Anticitizen mixes exploring a more slow and plodding sound which unfolds slowly and blends for most of its runtime as an expression of this.
